1 Objectives
This Programme aims to achieve the following objectives:
1) introduce to participants the fundamental programming concepts, including data structures and algorithms, coding and databases, using the Python language;
2) furnish participants with knowledge of logic, computation thinking and algorithms to solve problems;
3) assist participants to apply algorithms to write interactive programs to process data and generate appropriate outputs;
4) enable participants to develop the ability to create Python-driven web applications or data-driven business solutions;
5) enable participants to seek employment opportunity in working as analyst programmer, Python developer, software developer, or trading system developer.

2 Content
1. Fundamentals of Programming (30hr)
This module aims to teach Python Programming knowledge and skills to participants with little or no experience in computer programming. They will learn the concepts, terms, programming paradigms and coding techniques required for basic computer programming. Key features and advantages of learning to code Python will be discussed.
2. Python Programming (30hr)
This module aims to introduce to participants the process of setting up the Python environment, running a Python programme, improving Python coding, and applying Python execution model behind object-oriented programming. The ways of applying Python in a variety of technical fields will also be explored.
3. Python Application Project (30hr)
This module aims to assist participants in understanding the tools and techniques of developing a Python project.

3 Assessment
Assignment, Case Studies, Project and Final Exam.
4 Award of Certificate
To qualify for the award of 'Certificate in Python Programming', students are required to have an attendance rate of 70% or above in each course and have passed the assessments of each course.
5 Continuing Education Fund
This course has been included in the list of reimbursable courses under the Continuing Education Fund. This course is recognised under the Qualifications Framework (QF Level 3).

Please submit your application via online enrollment system (click "Online Enrolment" button at programme webpage). Upon the completion of online enrollment (including "Computer Knowledge and Other Skills" field), please email copies of the supporting documents to scs-it@cuhk.edu.hk:
• Copies of academic qualifications (e.g. award certificate / final transcript);
• Copies of proof of working experience, if applicable (e.g. reference letter or employment letter).
B. Enrollment by paper form:

• Copies of academic qualifications (e.g. award certificate / final transcript);

• Application Fee of $150 (please refer to "Part B - Methods of Payment" listed in the Enrollment Form).
